TJ Ranch has been in the same spot for over 35 years and has a very well established reputation. They provide breakfast with every overnight stay. They have a pool, camping area and secluded spots for meditation and yoga.
Paul and I have stayed here many times and know the owner the extremely well. Owned by siblings TJ and Tina Lopez and operated by Tina, they inherited it from their parents Tony and Joan. It’s one of our favorite places to visit and we give TJ Ranch very high ratings! They are bilingual.
To book with Tina, you can email her: info@tjranch.com, or send her a message via WhatsApp: 787-242-5923. Their website is: https://tjranch.com
Refugio Mountain Retreat, Mountains of Utuado

Set on 37 acres in the central cordillera with breathtaking views of Puerto Rico’s tallest peaks, Refugio Mountain Retreat is a magical place where you’ll find tranquility, miles of privately maintained hiking trails, cool temperatures, mountain spring water, fresh fruits, medicinal herbs and wild berries in season. Some have described it as “paradise on earth,” “the Lost World,” but we like to think of it as the place where “Earth meets Heaven.”
We’ve not stayed at Refugio since it became a BnB, but we have visited the property more than a dozen times when the previous owners occupied it. It’s stunning!

La Posada Mountain Retreat (Utuado)

Perched at ~1,800 ft elevation in the barrio of Roncador, La Posada offers sweeping mountain views and temperate evenings. The 3-bedroom house (plus optional apartment) includes a heated infinity pool overlooking the valley, lush gardens, and peacocks roaming the grounds. Hosts Jose and Christine provide VIP ecotours, fishing outings, horseback rides, and local nature excursions. We’ve never stayed there but hear it’s nice. Finca Remedio (Utuado)

A rustic, eco-friendly farm stay nestled beside a river and rainforest canopy. This off-grid-style retreat delivers quiet immersion in nature—complete with garden paths, calming bird song, and nearby waterfalls. Guests speak of peaceful nights by the river and restful fog-laced mornings. A perfect spot to unplug and reconnect. Breakfast available. It’s a mostly glamping site that doesn’t have a house or casita. For more information: https://www.fincaremedio.com
